Spring brings with it excitement and at John Wesley we wore civvies and made SPRING HATS on 1 September. The school was so colourful and joyful on SPRING DAY. Learners with the best hats won prizes.

We asked our learners to draw and paint colourful and inspirational art for display in the Eshowe Prison. Our children responded wonderfully to the task and the artwork has been delivered to the prison, so that their walls can be brightened up.
We participated in the SA Christian Schools’ cross-country event and four of our learners achieved SACSSA colours. All four (Sangiwa Myeni, Seluleko Thwala, Wanda Radebe & Luvo Qwabe) have received their SACSSA tracksuits and may wear them to school in place of the JW tracksuit.

On Friday 22 September we celebrated Heritage Day and our Grade 7 class hosted Market Day. The children dressed up in traditional attire and enjoyed the different foods and games on offer at Market Day. Great fun!
We held a raffle to raise money for our athletics tour to Pietermaritzburg at the end of term. Thanks to Pick n Pay for sponsoring the scrumptious prize. The winner (Mr J J Zulu) was drawn at our Talent Show on Wed 27 Sept. The Talent Show was a super event, well supported by our parents. It was so exciting to experience the talents our children have.

Our athletes participated in five athletics events this term: INTER-HOUSE held at Eshowe Golf Estate; Christian Schools’ Zonals at Richards Bay Stadium; KZN Christian Schools’ provincials at Msunduze Stadium in PMB; local schools’ South Zone event at Eshowe Oval AND SA Christian Schools’ nationals at Msunduze Stadium in PMB. Our athletes performed exceptionally well at all these events, wechave just returned with SIX medals from the SACSSA National Event. Outstanding performances were:
BOYS 10 Kuhle Gumede won GOLD broke the shotput record at South Zone Event at Eshowe Oval
BOYS 13 Aphelele Mhlongo won GOLD in the 800 metres event at SACSSA nationals.

Our school hosted a JUNIOR OPEN (U13 but including 3 U14 players) soccer festival at Eshowe Sports Club. Seven schools attended and the standard of soccer was very good! Schools were: Little Flower, Gratton, Eshowe Junior, Holy Childhood, Ging Primary, Mtunzini Primary and John Wesley.

On the last day of term our Grade 5 class provided a CAR WASH for parents, teachers and taxi owners. It was very well supported and the children had such fun on a very hot day.
