Sibona Ilanga Trust Bursary Programme Coverage

The value of the bursary will be assessed individually and can be utilized to cover the following study-related expenses:

  • Tuition fees, registration fees, and examination fees at tertiary institutions
  • Accommodation in a tertiary residence or equivalent
  • Meals
  • Learning materials (such as textbooks and stationery)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Applicants must reside within a 50km radius of the De Aar Solar Power plant.
  • Applicants must have been accepted at a recognized public or private tertiary education or training institution in South Africa.
  • Only fully completed application forms, accompanied by all necessary supporting documents, will be considered for review.

Selection Criteria

  • Selection based on Grade 12 preliminary/final results or highest achieved grade.
  • Encouraged for applicants pursuing NQF level 6 technical, skills training, training programmes, national diplomas, and degree programmes.
  • Financial Need: Demonstrated lack of financial resources impacting pursuit of tertiary education.

Application Process

  • To be considered for a bursary for the upcoming year, applicants must complete the application on StudyTrust’s online platform.
  • Hardcopy application forms are also accepted.
  • Completed application forms should be submitted via email to b.ndlovu@studytrust.org.za or delivered to the Ethembeni Community Centre at 3 Friedlander Street, De Aar, if applying for a Sibona Ilanga Trust bursary.
