Sasol Mainstream Programme Overview:

- Sasol Mainstream bursaries are performance-based, entailing a work-back/pay-back obligation.

- The bursary is inclusive, open to talented individuals pursuing full-time undergraduate/postgraduate degrees in selected Engineering, Science, and Technology fields nationally.

- Eligibility requires applicants to be South African citizens.

- Applicants must be currently registered or eligible for possible registration at an approved South African University for the upcoming academic year.

General Application Criteria for Current University Students:

- Submission of Grade 12 results for current 1st-year students.

- Submission of 1st-year results for current 2nd-year students applying for third year.

- Submission of 2nd-year results for current 3rd-year students applying for 4th year/Hons.

- Submission of 3rd-year results for Hons. students applying for Masters.

- Submission of Hons. results for Master’s students applying for PhD.

- Minimum of 50% required for all courses in the previous academic year.

- Must be registered for the degree course over the minimum study period and/or able to complete studies in that period.

- Exclusions apply for students on extended study periods or planning to register for an extended degree course.

- Applications must be for full-time studies at an accredited South African University.

- Studies at UNISA will not be considered.

- No bursaries awarded for studies at a University of Technology except for Mine Surveying.
Current University Postgraduate Students (Masters/PhD):

- Minimum of 65% required for all courses in the previous academic year.
Sasol Foundation Bursary Criteria:

- South African citizenship.
-
- Acceptance or provisional acceptance for studies at a South African University or University of Technology.

- Combined Household Income less than 600,000 per annum.
-
- Minimum of 60% in all subjects.

- Non-STEM bursaries reserved for qualifying Children of Sasol Employees, Khanyisa/Inzalo Shareholders, or Candidates from Sasol Fence-line communities.
Additional Notes:

- Final selection prioritizes financially needy and academically competitive candidates.

- Selected individuals must undergo Interviews and psychometric assessments.

- Grade 12 applicants must submit Grade 11 final results.

- Other applicants may submit end-of-year results for their completed Grade 12.

- Prescribed tuition fees, registration fees, and exam fees are paid directly to the university.

- Accommodation fees are paid directly to the university for university-administered accommodation.

- Students are responsible for paying for any repeat subjects.

- If students choose non-university administered accommodation, payments for accommodation and meals are made directly to the individual.

- Book and pocket money are paid directly to the individual.

- Payments are made twice a year, at the beginning of each semester.
